- You are right. The new A4000's from Escom do not have HD disk drives. I
- don't know. But maybe the new DD disk drives can detect if there is a HD
- or DD disk inserted. Thus it would know that it can not work with a HD
- disk. You can keep on putting tape over the hole. But I would not
- guarantee the integrity of the data stored on HD disks using DD drives. As
- the bias is wrong for that type of disk. It's like putting a metal tape in
- a normal (bias) cassette deck and recording. You wont get the same quality
- as if you just put in a normal cassette into the normal deck. There is
- just not enough energy by the record head to get the better frequency
- response.
